Class Descriptions

Mommy and Me

Your toddler's first introduction to dance movement and rythm within a classroom setting.  Your 2 or 3 year old may not be quite ready to stay in the studio without you.  It takes a while for young toddlers to get comfortable in the studio since they only come once a week for only a short hour.  This is unlike school or daycare where they may attend 3-5 days a week and can more quickly become comfortable in the setting.  The Mommy and Me class is the best way for your child to get to experience all of the great benefits of movement and dance, without the "separation" issues.  The movements explored in this class teach your child body and spacial awareness that will benefit them in many ways, not only in dance.  Basic rythms and musicality will be explored along with strength and flexibility exercises to prepare you toddler's body for traditional dance techniques.   Creativity, fun, and learning to participate in a classroom setting are also a big part of this experience for your toddler.

*Mom/guardian is required to stay for class.
*No formal dancing shoes or clothing is required.

Creative Movement

Just what your 2, 3 or 4 year old needs before diving into structured dance.  In this class your toddler will learn how to participate and behave in the dance studio while exploring their own body's movement and capabilities.  Pre-ballet exercises will begin to introduce your little dancer to ballet while rythm and timing practices will prepare them for tap.  The use of props will stir your dancer's creativity and moving throughout the space will help them learn how to use the space around them.  All the while allowing you toddler to express themselves through free movements and finding the fun in dance.

*Mom/guardian may stay to watch class but do not have to.
*No formal dancing shoes or clothing is required.

Ballet and Tap

Your 4 or 5 year old is ready to begin formal dance training in the styles of Ballet and Tap.  Basic terminology and skills will be taught and mastered.  Short combinations of steps set to music will be practiced to enhance memorization within the body.  Dancing together as a group will be introduced as a new concept in the studio.  High standards of classroom participation and behavior will be expected of your growing dancer.  Creativity exercises will still have a strong presence as to keep the fun and freedom of movement relevant within this structured class.

*Mom/guardian should not stay to watch class.
*Active clothing and ballet and tap shoes are required.
